For several months now, Brian and Tyler have been training for a 10K race. They signed up for the Moosic City Dairy Dash (sponsored by Purity... cute) and had the April 16th date in mind for their big day. However, Brian secretly had "other" plans for the race, unbeknownst to his girlfriend Becky, but knownst to a few others. See below for that part of the story...
The racers getting ready for the start. We're happy because we haven't run yet.
Over 1600 racers for the 5K and 10K... 600 in the 10K alone.
That's a cow and a giant thing of chocolate milk. Weird regardless of the sponsor.
Greg's presneeze and Tyler's bracing for it... they might look totally different, but definitely brothers.
Brian and Becky... half of them unaware of the big life-changing moment that- well, hold on...
The 5K winners. I don't care how into running I get, you won't catch me running in a one-piece spandex outfit like the guy in green shoes.
Mom has a Haley growing out of her chest!
The 10K is off!
Dude in the orange shirt finished the 10K faster than I finish a 5K. Depressing.
Winning! This is the last time we ran together, Brian was considerably faster...
Sam finishing her 5K in a rather impressive 35 minutes... not bad for her first race!
She pwns boys. In case you can't read that.
Dave has taken over the growth for mom now.
Brian finishing in a great time of 1:05:40!
He finished! Now it's time to po- wait, Tyler still hasn't crossed the finish line...
Becky's too cute sign. See the "R-A-N" in silver? Where was my sign, Brooke???
And just behind several ladies and a senior citizen, here comes Tyler!!
Sprinting to beat the 1:12:00, only to realize his chip time is faster than that. Oh well, a little sprint never hurt anyone.
Official time was 1:10:57. Not bad for a first time out, my opinion.
Greg was proud Tyler didn't pass out/puke/tear an ACL/break an ankle/get lost.
The runners, proud of their accomplishments!
Okay, look past the running lady... see Brian down on one knee?
They are right there in the middle, right next to that pole... the guy on his knee!!
There you go... now see Becky looking around to see if she is being "Punkd?" Yeah, she thought Brian was faking it... again... the boy who cried wolf strikes again!
Hands to the face! She can't believe a) the size of the ring, b) he proposed, and c) the size of the ring!
We were kind of far away, but we went ahead and assumed that was a yes.
Yay! Congrats to Brian and Becky Willtzakian! I'm going to go ahead and suggest that as an alternative last name for when they get married. It rolls off the tongue.
Sam's impressed. Brooke's impressed. Dave and I have been put to shame. Thanks, B!
I am so happy for these two, and I am so proud of Brian and his two major accomplishments on Saturday. I've known Brian for over a decade now (wow!), and we've grown up through a lot together. We joked through text about what 2001 Brian and Tyler would think of all this, and I'm not sure that ten-year younger us would have guessed we'd be running a race together in 2011 the morning Brian proposed to the love of his life. But, I am so happy, honored, and blessed to have been a part of it, and I can't wait for the NEXT big day to come!
