Henson Easter

This Easter we decided to stay home and HOST afternoon lunch. It really was an excuse to use our nice dishes from the wedding, but a good excuse at that! We started the day off by getting fancied up for church...

One blurry picture later we went to our crowded Easter service, then came back to get the "dining room" set up...

Luckily I married a woman who knows how to do stuff like that. And lucky for her, she married a guy who likes to cook...

Anyone who knows me for real knows I take my potatoes seriously. Especially mashed potatoes. This is me cutting up five pounds of potatoes for just six people. I

The table is set with all of my favorite things: carbs.

We were gracious hosts and let everyone else get first crack at the food. Although there may have been one or two deviled eggs already missing. I know nothing.

My wife's awesome cupcakes!

And her even MORE awesome strawberry cake! How I've managed to not gain ten pounds this month, I'll never know...

And what home-cooked meal is complete without the personalized apron? Easter dinner = success!

Easter Egg Party!

At Tyler's request, this Easter we introduced dyeing Easter Eggs at the Henson household! But of course what fun is doing that alone, so we invited the Baughmans to come make a mess with us! So with lots of vinegar, eggs, and dye, we went to work....

Kelsen is intrigued by the colors, yet hesitant of what we are about to do... she watches from a distance...

This is me explaining to Brooke that you can write clever sayings on the side of the egg using the special wax crayon in the kit. I'm glad Kelsen can't read yet, otherwise I may have gotten in trouble for what I wrote on a particular egg.

Kelsen enjoyed the dunking of eggs. She cheered for herself every time she dropped one in with a cute little "I did it!"

A reminder to Dave who leads. Unfortunately, that score is about to change in his favor...

Daddy Dave takes his turn dunking eggs.

Despite Haley's bald head, I was told I could not dunk her in as well.

Lots of eggs to find in the morning, and lots of eggs to eat this week!

Kelsen's unique approach to cupcake eating - shove it in your mouth icing first for optimal mess.

Kelsen is either trying to whistle here or get every drop of icing off her fingers. Not sure. But I do know that I enjoyed being a little kid again for an afternoon... you're never too old to dye eggs on Easter!!!

Bring Holly Home

Most of you reading this have probably already seen my posts on facebook about the case of Holly Bobo. If you haven't, here's the abbreviated version. She was taken from her home last Wednesday. Reports have said that she was last seen going into the woods (more than likely unwillingly) with a guy in camouflage clothing. I don't want to elaborate much more since the story has changed a few times and I'm not 100% sure what's correct and I don't want to give out any false info. The important thing is she's missing and her family wants her back. This story hits home because Holly was taken about 20 miles or so from where I grew up. If you know Lexington, TN you know it's not that big and Parsons/Darden, TN (where Holly lives) is even smaller. Things like this just don't happen around here. It's scary. It just goes to show anything can happen no matter where you live. It was absolutely heartbreaking to see the press conference with her parents. I cannot even begin to imagine what they are going through.

The police are now asking everyone in the community to think back to that day. What were you doing that day and did you notice any strange activity from anyone? If you have any information, no matter how little you may think it is, report it!! You never know if it'll be something that may help in the case. Here is a link from MSNBC I found for those that may not be familiar with the case. Continue to pray she is found and brought back home safe and sound where she belongs!!

Wearing pink for Holly. Let's bring her home!!

The Big Day!

For several months now, Brian and Tyler have been training for a 10K race. They signed up for the Moosic City Dairy Dash (sponsored by Purity... cute) and had the April 16th date in mind for their big day. However, Brian secretly had "other" plans for the race, unbeknownst to his girlfriend Becky, but knownst to a few others. See below for that part of the story... The racers getting ready for the start. We're happy because we haven't run yet.
Over 1600 racers for the 5K and 10K... 600 in the 10K alone.

That's a cow and a giant thing of chocolate milk. Weird regardless of the sponsor.

Greg's presneeze and Tyler's bracing for it... they might look totally different, but definitely brothers.

Brian and Becky... half of them unaware of the big life-changing moment that- well, hold on...

The 5K winners. I don't care how into running I get, you won't catch me running in a one-piece spandex outfit like the guy in green shoes.

Mom has a Haley growing out of her chest!

The 10K is off!

Dude in the orange shirt finished the 10K faster than I finish a 5K. Depressing.

Winning! This is the last time we ran together, Brian was considerably faster...

Sam finishing her 5K in a rather impressive 35 minutes... not bad for her first race!

She pwns boys. In case you can't read that.

Dave has taken over the growth for mom now.

Brian finishing in a great time of 1:05:40!

He finished! Now it's time to po- wait, Tyler still hasn't crossed the finish line...

Becky's too cute sign. See the "R-A-N" in silver? Where was my sign, Brooke???

And just behind several ladies and a senior citizen, here comes Tyler!!

Sprinting to beat the 1:12:00, only to realize his chip time is faster than that. Oh well, a little sprint never hurt anyone.

Official time was 1:10:57. Not bad for a first time out, my opinion.

Greg was proud Tyler didn't pass out/puke/tear an ACL/break an ankle/get lost.

The runners, proud of their accomplishments!

Okay, look past the running lady... see Brian down on one knee?

They are right there in the middle, right next to that pole... the guy on his knee!!

There you go... now see Becky looking around to see if she is being "Punkd?" Yeah, she thought Brian was faking it... again... the boy who cried wolf strikes again!

Hands to the face! She can't believe a) the size of the ring, b) he proposed, and c) the size of the ring!

We were kind of far away, but we went ahead and assumed that was a yes.

Yay! Congrats to Brian and Becky Willtzakian! I'm going to go ahead and suggest that as an alternative last name for when they get married. It rolls off the tongue.

Sam's impressed. Brooke's impressed. Dave and I have been put to shame. Thanks, B!

I am so happy for these two, and I am so proud of Brian and his two major accomplishments on Saturday. I've known Brian for over a decade now (wow!), and we've grown up through a lot together. We joked through text about what 2001 Brian and Tyler would think of all this, and I'm not sure that ten-year younger us would have guessed we'd be running a race together in 2011 the morning Brian proposed to the love of his life. But, I am so happy, honored, and blessed to have been a part of it, and I can't wait for the NEXT big day to come!
