Fall Creek Falls

What happens when you have beautiful weather and a great state park just two hours away? Well, you put off going for months until your wife finally says you are going. So we did, we went to Fall Creek Falls on a great, warm, sunny day for the heck of it (Sorry, Sam, for waiting to go until you were super preggers). It was pretty busy, and the trail was steeper than either of us remembered, but it was great to be outdoors and away from it all.

The big falls, still awesome, no matter how many times you see it.

We packed us a picnic lunch! It was wonderful and quaint, until some random kid kept walking up, talking gibberish to us. His mom was too busy not paying attention while her children ran across a busy parking lot.

Self-shot! As always.

My cute little hikin wife. Poor thing realized that trail to the falls was really far down... and equally as far back up. Her calves hated her for days after that.

At least I didn't have to carry her back up.

I love the swingin bridge! Always a good time had by all. Ah, memories of taking 150 people across it in the dark during camp, six at a time.

Enjoying the quiet of the gorge overlook trail, which was completely empty except for us... made the day even better!

Whoa! I have no idea what I'm doing here. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Squirrel!

Our quiet spot looking over the gorge. I miss super-high-water-gorge hikes.

Brooke, more than happy to sit down for a while.

Uh-oh, I'm on the other side of the rope! Rule-breaker!!

And yes, Brooke told me to be careful about 20 times while on the other side.

Our quiet spot.
And so ends another eventful day in the life of the Hensons. What random trip will we take next? Who knows... stay tuned!

Good Food & Fun!!

We have two major traditions among our friends. One involves the Tyler/Brian birthday celebration every February (which is a cardinal sin to miss). The other is the first Titans game of the year at Toot's, which for the first time ever took place at the Toot's South location. This is a time honored tradition between the Baughmans, Hensons, and Williams/Tertzakians. It is a time to cheer on the Titans, eat pickle chips, eat wings, and eat whatever we can until the game is over and/or we explode. Luckily the game usually ends just in time.

Decked out in our new Griffin/Finnegan jerseys... thank you, major online sale and $10 jerseys!

There's a lot of love going on over there on the other side of the table...

Not intimidating, but happy that the Grigs was able to make it out!

I'm so happy! Tailgating and Toot's in the SAME WEEKEND!!

"Christina, look. Christina. Greg, get your wife. Christina! Fine, I'll just take it of the back of your head!" Not sure what Greg is looking at, the TV is behind him...

The skinny parents. They mostly behaved, but I know mom snuck at least one fried pickle chip!

Brian sandwich! I think Brian inadvertently kissed my hand instead of Becky's here. Or maybe he meant to get mine. Probably the former. I hope.

And the group exits, victorious because:
a) The Titans won 38-13
b) It was Toot's, and amazing
c) My bill was only 14 cents, and Dave's was about that, thanks to the Toot's gift certificates we won during a Facebook contest (thank YOU voters!)
It does look like Sam ate too much... either that or she needs to hurry up and have that baby so we can meet him/her/it!!! Just a few more weeks!

Tailgate Time!!!

It's football time in Middle Tennessee!! FINALLY! After months of waiting, we had our first Saturday tailgate on campus for the MTSU/Austin Peay game. 60% chance of rain all day, but all we got was a little shower... thank you, football gods, for giving us a break! We tailgated with the usual crew of ASC people and friends, right next to the Admissions/Basic and Applied Science folks. It's a quaint spot, just close enough to the big tailgate, but just far enough to be left alone by the kids.

Obligatory self-shot.

You have to keep up with all the other scores while you are tailgating. There's an app for that.

WHAT would a tailgate be without cornhole?? And trash talk.

Look at that form. What grace. What style. I probably missed.

I'm pretty excited about my tailgater grill... and yes, I'm too lazy to go the charcoal route.

Dad in skinny mode. We're all happy about something, not sure what. Probably a "that's what she said" joke. No, most likely that.

No idea what was up with this, but apparently tailgating gave her wings.
And MTSU won! Yeah, go figure, there was a game that went along with the tailgating!
